According to the unified arrangement of the Public Security Ministry, e-pass from and to Taiwan started issued all over China on April 24, 2017 and the old paper version ones would no longer be issued.
The new pass is a card with an embedded contactless integrated circuit chip which was made according to ICAO DOC9303 TD-1. According to regulations, applicants should register fingerprint in local Public Security Department. People who register successfully are able to apply the Pass through automated customs clearance channels.
Applicants who are less than 16 years old will get 5-year valid pass; while those who are at the age of 16 and upwards will receive 10-year-old valid pass. There will be no exit or entry stamps and all information will be recorded by chips and information system.
